Our exercise physiologists are here to support you.

Our team of accredited exercise physiologists are here to help veterans and family members to improve their health conditions, assist in injury rehabilitation and improve quality of life regardless of age, fitness level or health conditions. 

Exercise physiologists can support with a range of common conditions, including:

  • Musculoskeletal pain/injury (knees, shoulders, lower back and more)
  • Persistent pain 
  • Diabetes management 
  • Heart disease 
  • PTSD, depression and anxiety
  • Neuro rehabilitation
  • Geriatrics

Effective treatments for veterans and their family members at Mates4Mates include physical rehabilitation, hydrotherapy, health education, pre- and post-surgery rehabilitation, group fitness activities, movement for mental health, and more, offered both in one-on-one appointments and in group class settings. 

Our staff will take the time to learn about your health history and any injuries that you’ve previously had or are currently dealing with. 

You can book an appointment with a Mates4Mates exercise physiologist in Stafford or Townsville. Telehealth appointments are also available, where eligible. 

Group class exercise programs are also available at our Stafford and Townsville locations.

Booking an appointment 

Referrals are required to make an appointment with a Mates4Mates exercise physiologist.

Frequently asked questions

If you are currently serving or a veteran and have been impacted by your military service, or you’re a family member of someone who has, you can access our exercise physiology services with a Medicare or DVA referral. Once you have your GP referral, you can book an appointment with one of our trained exercise physiologists at a Mates4Mates centre. Telehealth is also available, where eligible. Our exercise physiologists are skilled in working with Defence Force personnel and understand the challenges of service. 

Yes, you will need a GP referral to book exercise physiology appointments. Mates4Mates accepts DVA Health Cards upon a GP referral, and we accept Extended Primary Care Plans for family members.

Mates4Mates is registered with the Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) and Medicare as a recognised Allied Health Provider for exercise physiology services. You simply need to visit your GP, Medical Officer or medical specialist to obtain a referral and then call Mates4Mates on 1300 4 MATES (62 837) to make an appointment.
We do have an option for a limited amount of treatment-free services for both exercise physiology and physiotherapy. Speak to the team to find out more.

No payment will be required to be made at Mates4Mates when accessing our clinical services as services are bulk billed. We accept DVA Health Cards upon a GP referral, and we accept Extended Primary Care Plans for family members.

Hydrotherapy and reformer Pilates group classes will require a GP referral.
