An update on Mates4Mates relocation to Stafford

28 June 2023

Mates4Mates is relocating to a brand-new centre in Stafford. The RSL Queensland Veteran & Family Wellbeing Centre will be state of the art, catering to veterans and the wider Defence community.

From Monday, 28 August 2023, Mates4Mates will be opening its new centre to veterans and family members, continuing to provide the same services you know and love that are currently being provided at the centre in Milton.

The new centre, located at Level 1, 274 Stafford Road, Stafford QLD 4053, will include a wide variety of consultation rooms for support services by Mates4Mates psychologists, social workers, counsellors and exercise physiologists, a gym for physical health services, regular social connection activities by our liaison officers, and a veteran’s lounge will also be available.

Mates4Mates social connection activities will also continue to be provided externally from the centre around Brisbane and surrounding regions.

The centre will also provide much easier access to other support services available to veterans and their family members. This includes RSL Queensland, Legacy and the Gallipoli Medical Research Foundation (GMRF), with DVA and Open Arms located on the ground floor of the building.

With our relocation to Stafford, this means the centre in Milton will officially close from lunch time on Friday, 18 August with a range of services to be offered online and via telehealth during this transition period (21-25 August).

We understand that travelling to Stafford may be an adjustment. A travel guide will be developed over the coming weeks to help veterans and families identify the easiest way to visit us in the new centre and access our services. Car parking will be available at the centre, and for public transport options, please visit the Translink website

As usual, Mates4Mates social connection activities will continue to be provided externally from the centre around Brisbane and surrounding regions.

Thank you for everyone's patience and understanding as we relocate to a new home that will provide more support services to veterans and families. We encourage anyone with any questions about the Mates4Mates relocation to Stafford to reach out to our friendly Brisbane team the next time you visit the Milton centre or by emailing brisbane@mates4mates.org.
