Brisbane Airshow supports Defence community

20 July 2022

Mates4Mates was the Charity of Choice for the 2022 Brisbane Airshow, which raised important funds for veterans and their families impacted by service through its spectacular sky displays.

Set in the picturesque Somerset, outside of Brisbane, pilots and their planes performed jaw dropping stunts in front of over 25,000 spectators, providing fun and thrill for every member of the family.

The sold-out weekend delivered an amazing line-up of aeronautical stars such as the Warbirds like the Hudson, Mustang and Kittyhawk, bringing joy to the eyes of everyone who attended.

Determined to run the event for the first time since 2019, after the 2020 and 2021 shows were both cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2022 Brisbane Airshow had to be delayed one final time due to heavy rain and adverse weather conditions.

However, the Brisbane Airshow team pushed on with sunny skies in sight and the event finally took flight on 9-10 July, providing a spectacular experience in the skies.

Mates4Mates was honoured to join forces with the Brisbane Airshow to continue supporting the Defence community.

“Being appointed as the Charity of Choice for the Brisbane Airshow enabled us to engage with an audience that is supportive of the Defence community and bring vital attention to the ever-increasing need for veteran support services and the critical nature in which they are required,” shared Marc Diplock, National Veteran Engagement Manager.

“There was plenty of eyes on the sky and support on the ground over the weekend for the Defence community.”

As the Charity of Choice, donations were made to Mates4Mates through ticket sales for the 2022 Brisbane Airshow, raising vital funds to support veterans and their families experiencing service-related physical injuries, mental health issues and isolation.

To everyone who bought a ticket and said hello to the team at the Mates4Mates stall, thank you for your generosity and support.
