Brisbane centre now open in Stafford

28 August 2023

Mates4Mates has officially moved to Stafford, North Brisbane and is located within the RSL Queensland Veteran & Family Wellbeing Centre.

Relocating from Milton, the Mates4Mates Brisbane team can be found at 274 Stafford Road in Stafford QLD.

Opening to veterans and families on Monday, 28 August, this purpose-built space provides the same services for the veteran community that were known and loved at the centre in Milton which has now closed.

The centre includes a wide variety of consultation rooms for support services by Mates4Mates psychologists, social workers, counsellors and exercise physiologists, plus a rehab gym, space for regular social connection activities, and a veteran’s lounge.

Local ex-service organisations are also delivering services within the RSL Queensland Veteran & Family Wellbeing Centre, providing an easier approach for veterans and their families to receive more support, more often.

When visiting the centre, we have free, on-site parking. Stafford Road is a busy road, so please be safe when entering and leaving the car park. You are only able to turn left in and out of the car park, there are no right hand turns. There is also public transport available. Please visit the Translink website for the easiest way to access the centre.

Laura Duckworth, Mates4Mates South East Queensland Regional Manager shared how wonderful it’s been to hear from Brisbane veterans and families in the lead up to the new centre opening who have been looking forward to joining us in Stafford.

“Relocating to Stafford will allow us to provide our much-needed services and support to many more members of the Defence community,” said Laura.

For those who can’t make it to Stafford, Mates4Mates popular social connection activities will continue to be provided externally from the centre around Brisbane and surrounding regions, with telehealth services also available for clinical appointments.

“Thank you for everyone's patience during the relocation from Milton to Stafford. We are excited to support and engage with more veterans and family members accessing our services,” Laura added.

Whether you need a coffee or a chat, access to support and rehabilitation services, or you want to meet others who understand what you’re going through, you’re welcome at the Mates4Mates Brisbane Centre.

Reach out to the Brisbane team on 1300 4 MATES (62 837) or brisbane@mates4mates.org to find out more about our activities and services.

The Brisbane Centre is open from 8:30am to 4:30pm, Monday to Friday. To access the centre, all current and ex-serving Defence Force members and their families will need to complete our new client form. Once you have joined, you are welcome to come and go as you need for appointments, programs, and social connection activities.
